Badlapur is a town and a nagar panchayat in Jaunpur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geography

Badlapur is located at 25°32′N 82°16′E / 25.53°N 82.27°E / 25.53; 82.27.[1] It has been assigned 222125 pincode by Indian postal services.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Badlapur had a population of 36943. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Machhlishahr has an average literacy rate of 59%, male literacy is 76.99%, and female literacy is 43.35%. In Machhlishahr, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. Represented in the U.P. State Assembly by MLA Subhash Pandey of the BSP.[3]

Badlapur is well-connected with major cities of India through Indian Railways network. Railway station of Badlapur is Sri Krishna Nagar railway station(SKN).[citation needed] Some important trains from Sri Krishna Nagar(Badlapur) are Varuna Express for Lucknow and Varanasi, Howrah Amritsar Express Connecting Kolkata and Amritsar and Farakka Express for Delhi.

Road

Badlapur is well connected to Lucknow, Varanasi, Allahabad and other cities of Uttar Pradesh. National Highway 56(NH-56) links Badlapur to Lucknow and Varanasi. State Highway 7(SH-7) is highway connecting Badlapur to Allahabad and Gorakhpur.

Festivals

The biggest celebrations in Badlapur are Durga Pooja & Bharat Milap as yearly festival. Pupils also organise big celebrations on Eid-ul-Fitr, Holi, Ramzan-ul-Mubarak, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan and more other occasions. Visible excitement shows on Independence Day and Republic Day. This is the town, where all pupils, related with all regions, celebrates all the festivals joyfully with each other.
