Badi Panthulu (English title: School Teacher; Telugu: బడిపంతులు) is a 1972 Telugu Drama film directed by P. Chandrasekhara Reddy and starring N. T. Rama Rao (NTR) and Anjali Devi. This is the first film of popular Indian actress Sridevi, who played the role of NTR's granddaughter. Sridevi would later go on to star as the lead heroine alongside NTR in his later films.

The film is remake of the 1958 Kannada film School Master directed by B. Ramakrishnaiah Panthulu.[1] The film has strong message of combined families and responsibilities of children towards parents.

The plot

N. T. Rama Rao is a teacher in a government primary school. His wife is Anjali Devi. Nagabhushanam is the school proprietor. The teacher lives with commitment to basic values of life. His sons are Krishnam Raju and Ramakrishna. The school children built a house for their teacher with love and affection. After retirement, the parents had to live with their parents. The children sells the house against their wishes. They separate their father and mother and takes care of them by rotation. They wanted to live together. Jaggaiah is their student and becomes a police officer. He purchased their house in auction and gifts it to their beloved teacher. This story moral teaches that the outsiders help you than your children.

  • Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao's career was in some sort of a problem with a series of flops in 1971.This Title Role gave him a fresh lease of life.His Performance was acclaimed by everyone including the critics.The Movie was a good success celebrating 100 days in 3 centres.N.T.Rama Rao created history later on with All Time Block Busters like Adavi Ramudu (1977 film), Yamagola,Driver Ramudu-1979 Veta gaadu-1979,Kondaveeti Simham-1981,Justice Chowdary-1982,Sardar Paparayudu and Bobbili Puli-1982.
