B-Reel is an international production company working in three areas: Commercials and Branded Content, Digital and Feature Films. The company works globally with offices in Stockholm, London, Los Angeles, New York, Berlin and Barcelona.
History
Anders Wahlquist, Fredrik Heinig, Johannes Åhlund, Petter Westlund and Pelle Nilsson[1] founded B-Reel in 1999 in Stockholm, Sweden. In 2007 they opened an office in New York, NY. The following year they expanded to London, UK, and in 2010 B-Reel established themselves in Los Angeles, CA. In early 2013 B-Reel opened offices in Berlin and Barcelona. Awards and Recognition
Their work has been honoured with Clios, ADC USA, SXSW, One Show awards and an Emmy nomination in 2013 for "The Beauty Inside", a Facebook-based miniseries for Toshiba and Intel, Black Pencil of D&AD, the Grand Clio, Best in Show at SXSW, United Nations Award at New York Festivals and the Grand Prix at Cannes Lions.[3][4] In 2009 B-Reel entered the FWA hall of fame.[5] In 2010 Creativity named B-Reel No 1 Digital Production Company in the world.[6] Advertising Age and Creativity appointed B-Reel Production Company of The Year 2011[7] together with B-Reel Films.
Stndrd
B-Reel is one of the founders of Stndrd,[8] an open source approach for establishing practices and standards in digital production. It was developed to make processes between vendors and clients in the digital world easier by building de facto standards in an open source environment.
Notable Projects
The Beauty Inside
The Beauty Inside is a 2012 social film for Intel and Toshiba, their second social film since releasing Inside in 2011. Directed by Drake Doremus Drake Doremus and starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Topher Grace besides a Facebook-cast group of characters, the film is broken up into six filmed episodes interspersed with interactive storytelling that all takes place on the main character's Facebook timeline. Deemed as Hollywood's first social film, this innovative storytelling gave everyone in the audience a chance to play the (ever changing) lead role throughout the story.[9]
The Wilderness Downtown
The Wilderness Downtown is an interactive music experience for Arcade Fire's song We Used To Wait. The Wilderness Downtown was on Time Magazine's list of the 30 All-TIME Best Music Videos.[10]
Gentlemen & Gangsters
Gentlemen & Gangsters is the Feature Film based on Klas Östergrens novels Gentlemen and Gangsters. Premiering in the fall of 2014.
3LiveShop
3LiveShop is a customer service solution for telecom operator 3 (HI3G, Hutchison Investor). This custom built hardware and software features a touch screen and live video two-way communication.
Hotel 626
Hotel 626 was an online horror experience for snacks brand Doritos.
