Avanti (bicycle manufacturer)

Avanti bikes is an Australasian company originating from New Zealand and now distributes bicycles to many countries within Oceania, Asia and Europe. Avanti put its first bicycle into the New Zealand market in 1985 and since then has built its range to 100+ models catering for all areas of cycling from kids bikes right through to Olympic bikes. In 1991 Avanti went over the Tasman Sea and set up a sister company in Australia which has been well adopted in the market.[citation needed]

Track

  • Alison Shanks: 2012 Individual Pursuit World Champion & Silver London World Cup Individual Pursuit
  • Rushlee Buchanan: 2011 1st Cascade Cycling Classic - Stage 4, USA & Winner Best Young Rider Cascade Cycling Classic
  • Taylah Jennings: 2012 Gold - Points Race - Junior Worlds, U19 National Champ, Points Race, U19 National Champ - Scratch Race, U19 National Champ - 500m TT, U19 Omnium & Team Pursuit World Champion
  • Georgina Wilson: started cycling in 2006 when she began at Diocesan School and represented her school for two years before joining the North Harbour cycling club. She is a road and endurance track cyclist and competes in both disciplines.
  • Racquel Sheath: Racquel started cycling at the age of eleven after racing BMX for 6 years. She was inspired by Olympic Gold medallist, Sarah Ulmer, and one day hopes to become a golden girl.

Avanti has prided itself on being an innovator and designer through their ADT (Avanti Design & Technology) process. Recently their Chrono Evo II TT bike won not only the GOLD pin at the 2011 New Zealand Design Awards but also the highly coveted PURPLE Pin for Best In Class. The same bike then went on to win the RED DOT Award at the highly prestigious European Red Dot Awards.

In 2012 the Corsa DR bike, taking its aestheic cues from the Chrono won the GOLD pin at the New Zealand Design Awards 2012.
