Translation Into English
بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِِ
The Sura opens with Allah's personal name, Ar-Rahman. It should be noted that this is not numbered since it is not the written text/part/Ayah of سُورة:
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.[2]
1 O Prophet, why do you forbid for yourself what Allah has made lawful to you. Is it because you seek to please your wives? And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. [2][3] [4][5]
2 Allah has already appointed a way to absolve you from your oaths. And Allah is your Master, and Allah is your Protector, and He is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom.[2][5]
3 And when the Prophet told a secret matter to one of his wives, and then she then divulged it (to another), and Allah made it known to him, he confirmed part thereof and repudiated a part. So when the Prophet told her, she asked, "Who informed you of this?" The Prophet said, "I was informed by Him Who knows everything and is All-Aware."[3][5][2]
4 If you two turn in repentance to Allah, your hearts are indeed so inclined. But if you back up each other against him (the prophet), you should know that Allah is his Protector, and after Him Gabriel and the righteous believers and the angels are his helpers.[5][2]
5 It is possible that, if he divorces you, his Lord may give him in exchange better wives than you; who are believing and obedient, penitent, worshiping, and given to fasting, be they previously married or virgins.[3][2]
6 O believers!, save yourselves and your family members from the fire whose fuel is men and stones, over which are appointed angels, stern and severe, who disobey not the Commands of Allah and do what they are commanded.[3]
7 O you who disbelieve, make no excuses this day, you are being requited only for what you used to do.[4]
8 O you who believe! Turn to Allah with sincere repentance, It may be that your Lord will expaite from you your sins, and admit you into gardens under which rivers flow. It will be a Day when Allah will not humiliate His Prophet and those who have believed with him. Their light will be running infront of them and on their right hands, while they say, "Our Lord! Perfect our Light for us, and grant us Forgiveness: for Thou hast power over all things."[5][2][3][5]
9 O Prophet! Strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites, and be firm against them. Their abode is Hell, an evil refuge.[5]
10 Allah cites for the disbelievers the example of the wives of Noah and Lot. They were married to two of Our righteous servants, but they betrayed their husbands, and they profited nothing before Allah on their account, but were told: Enter the Fire along with those who enter!"[2][5][4]
11 And Allah sets forth, as an example to those who believe, the wife of Pharaoh. Behold she said: "O my Lord! Build for me, in nearness to You, a mansion in the Garden, and save me from Pharaoh and his doings, and save me from those that do wrong.[5]
12 And Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity. So We breathed into her body of Our Spirit, and she testified to the Words of her Lord and His Books, and she was one of the obedient.[2][5]
