Ashley is a hamlet in the large civil parish of Bentworth in the East Hampshire district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest town is Alton, which lies approximately 4.3 miles (6.9 km) east from the hamlet. Its nearest railway station was formerly the Bentworth and Lasham railway station on the Basingstoke and Alton Light Railway, until its closure in 1932. But due to the closure of the Bentworth and Lasham railway station,[2] the nearest railway station is now 3.6 miles (5.8 km) east of the village, at Alton.
Parish Boundary
The western edge of the Civil Parish (CP) of Bentworth includes Ashley Farm house. The parish of Wield starts immediately to the west just beyond a Z-bend in the road. Before border changes in 2004, Ashley used to be in the Civil Parish of Wield, part of the City of Winchester district. The Hamlet of Ashley is now in the parish of Bentworth, part of the East Hampshire district.
