Ashikita (芦北町 Ashikita-machi) is a town located in Ashikita District, Kumamoto, Japan.
On January 1, 2005 the town of Tanoura was merged into Ashikita.
As of this merger but with 2003 population data, the town has an estimated population of 21,644 and a density of 92.7 persons per km². The total area is 233.48 km².
There is a beach at Ashikita, as well as a marine park, where one can ride a roller luge or try zorbing.
