An artesa is a rectangular container with a shallow basin, used in traditional breadmaking in Europe. The wooden form has been used for centuries for making bread, as well as for watering and feeding livestock, and in wine production. It is variously called a "bread trough" or "dough trough" in English.[1]

Mechanization in bakeries, new technologies in bread ovens have relegated to the artesa to either recycling or as a garden box.
