American Whitewater

American Whitewater is a national membership organization with the declared mission "to conserve and restore America's whitewater resources and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely."
The organisation was founded in 1954 as American White Water Affiliation (AWWA).[1] In 1961, it became known officially as the American Whitewater Affiliation (AWA). In 1997, the name was shortened to American Whitewater (AW).[2]
The organisation has published the The American Whitewater Journal since 1955. The journal name was changed in 1971 from American White Water to American Whitewater.
