American Me is a hardcore punk band from Portland, Oregon. The band was formed in 2006 and signed with Rise Records.[1] The band's music is often described as 'brutal hardcore' and is known for its fast pace and heavy sound.[2]

The band's first studio album, Heat, was released in 2008. The album was greeted with positive reactions from hardcore punk fans, as well as fans of other genres such as heavy metal. They received praise and many reviews from critics for exhibiting a unique, heavier genre of hardcore punk, while incorporating elements of conventional hardcore punk.[3][4]

History

Formation

American Me was formed in Portland, Oregon in 2006 by Tony Tataje and Brian Blade. Originally, the band was a side-project for It Prevails,[5] although it soon became a full-time band in its own right, distinguished by a far heavier sound.

Burglary and hiatus (2009 - 2010)

After the release of their second studio album, the band's tour bus was burglarized which prompted the band's year-long hiatus from the music scene.

Reformation and third studio album

After Nate Dorval, Aaron Marsh, and Doug Furry left the band, it was reformed with new members. The new band released their third studio album, III, on August 14, 2012.
