Alec Burks (born July 20, 1991) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Burks played his college basketball at the University of Colorado.
High school
Burks signed with Colorado during the November 2008 signing period, prior to his senior year of high school.[1] He attended Grandview High School, where in 2009 he was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Missouri. His senior year he averaged 23.0 points per game, in addition to 6.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He was also named the Kansas City Star and Metro Sports Player of the Year during his senior year.
College
Burks played college basketball at the University of Colorado at Boulder, receiving many accolades including the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year Award.

Professional career
Utah Jazz (2011–present)
Burks was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2011 NBA draft by the Utah Jazz.[2] In his rookie season, he averaged 7.2 points in 13.2 minutes per game. The Jazz made the playoffs, but they were swept by the San Antonio Spurs in the first round. In his first career playoff game, he scored 6 points. On January 13th, 2014, Burk scored a career-high 34 points and led the Utah Jazz over the Denver Nuggets.

Awards
In 2009 he won the Big 12 Conference Freshman of the Year Award and the Big 12 All-Rookie Team achievement. At season's end he also won other numerous awards such as the 2009-10 Basketball Times' All-Freshman First Team; 2009-10 CollegeInsider.com All-America Freshman Team; 2009-2010 Big 12 specialty teams (Kansas City Star) All-Freshman Team; 2009-10 Sporting News Magazine All-Freshman Second Team; 2009-10 CUSPY Awards (CU Sports Performers of the Year) Male Freshman Athlete of the Year.
