Facilities

It is a planned village with a road encircling the main area of the village at the foot of a hill named Sobhana Giri. Mandapas were built at each corner of the square, one of which is Kotai is a very large gallery with a roofed structure above the Mantapa.

There is a pond west of town. In the centre of this pond, there is another "Mantapa". All the Mantapas serve as centers for different festivals. The lord of the village is housed for the duration of the festival in the Mantapa connected with that festival. Veda Paatasala (school for teaching vedas) and a Sanskrit college are as old as the village.

There is a bus station, a building for the Temple Chariot and a four-pillared platform (mandapam) for temple festivals and kalyanams. The village, Sobhanaachalam is on the other side of the hill from Aagiripalli. There are many country-side hotels for food. Water is potable. There are also medical clinics, clothes and grocery shops, vegetable vendors, food/snacks stalls, two flower-stalls and audio-video cassette shops.

Aagiripally is located 32 km ( 20 miles) from Vijayawada. There is bus service to Aagiripalli. Almost all buses going to Nuzvidu stop at Aagiripalli.

Temple

Aagiripalli is famous for its Sobhanaachala (aka Sobhanaadri) hill hosting the temples of Lord Vyaaghra-Narasimha, Rajaya Lakshmi and Lord Shiva. At the base of the hill, there is a temple dedicated to Lord Kshatravata, Chatravata Narasimha and Rajya Laksmi. The other deities honored by this temple are Aandal, Rajaya Laksmi, Hanuman, VenugopalaSwamy, Venkateswara and Garuda.

Sobhanaachala gets its name due to the beautiful view it gives from the top, serenity & peace that reigns at the top and the instant focus it provides for meditation.

Popular story

Lord Shiva searched for a place for his evening meditations and found the Sobhanachala hill near Aagiripall to be a suitable place. When they had nearly reached the top, Lord Vishnu asked Lord Shiva if the hill was good enough for meditation. While Lord Vishnu waited, Lord Shiva reached the hill top and was absorbed by the view, serenity and calmness so deeply that he started meditating. Lord Vishnu became angry when Lord Shiva did not return and assumed the Vyaagrha-Narasimha form. Lord Shiva prayed that Lord Vyaagrha-Narasimha would calm down. Lord Vishnu assured Lord Shiva that the devotees will be blessed when they worship the deity.

The goddess Rajyalakshmi was installed in the temple of Lord Vyaagrha Narasimha to keep the Lord pacified. Lord Shiva's linga was installed on the hill top and a small temple constructed around it.

Benefits

People seeking peace and prosperity can visit this temple. Lord Vyaagrha Narasimaha removes fear and enemies and Goddess Rajyalakshmi bestows prosperity to the devotees. Lord Shiva on the hill-top provides peace and serenity.

Temple services

The services for the deities are Abhishekham, Nama-Archana, KumKumaarchana, Pavalimpu-Seva, Kalyanam, Homams and Darshans.
