African mantis
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
African mantis and African praying mantis are common names for many species of praying mantis from Africa, especially Sphodromantis viridis (giant African mantis) and other species in genus Sphodromantis (i.e. S. belachowski, S. centralis, S. gastrica, S. lineola, etc.), and also Miomantis caffra and others as well.[1][2][3][4]
Variants of this common name are used by species such as Popa spurca (African twig mantis),[5] Oxyothespis dumonti (African grass mantis),[6] Tarachodes species (African bark mantis),[7] etc.
