938LIVE (formerly known as NewsRadio 938 before 2005) is an English radio station of MediaCorp in Singapore. It is an eighteen hour radio station that broadcasts news radio programmes, from 6:00am to midnight (UTC+08:00) daily. During non-operating hours, the station will relay programmes from WCTR Talk Radio till 6:00am.

History

NewsRadio 938 (1996 - 2004)

Prior to 938LIVE, it was originally known as NewsRadio 938 and was officially inaugurated by then President of Singapore's Ong Teng Cheong on 1 January 1996 at midnight. Then, it was one of Radio Corporation of Singapore (RCS)'s radio stations, which had taken over Singapore Broadcasting Corporation (SBC)'s radio-broadcasting operations on 1 October 1994 when it was privatized under the Singapore International Media (SIM Group of Companies). When the Television Corporation of Singapore (TCS) rebranded to MediaCorp in 12 February 2001, RCS subsequently became MediaCorp Radio.

938LIVE (2005 - present)

NewsRadio 938 was rebranded as 938LIVE and was officially inaugurated by then President of Singapore's Sellapan Ramanathan on 1 January 2005 at midnight.

Broadcasting length

938LIVE will also air live broadcasts for breaking news such as the Singapore general and presidential elections, natural disasters and transnational terrorist attacks, as well as special occasions such as public holidays and observations, concerts, and major sporting events. These news were usually extended to live hours.

938LIVE schedules are published in Today newspapers, together with 987FM, Class 95FM and Gold 90.5FM. They can be found in the same page as Toggle schedules.

National Anthem

The National Anthem plays at 6.00am when the station starts transmission with the first programme, Fresh, and at 12.00am when it ends after the last programme, Night Cap. The Anthem plays for 1 minute 32 seconds.
