Bid selection
The cities of Brasília, Brazil and Taipei, Taiwan were in contention for the Games. On November 29, 2011, FISU announced that the host would be Taipei [1]
Environmental issue
Taipei city government is removing 1,200 trees from Linkou park for the contraction of 2017 Summer Universiade athletes' village.
