The 2015 Rose Bowl will be a College Football Playoff semifinals bowl game that will be played on January 1, 2015 at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California. This 101st Rose Bowl Game will match two top teams selected by the Selection Committee to compete for a spot at the College Football Playoff Championship game to be played on January 12, 2015 at AT&T Stadium, (Arlington, TX).[2] It is one of the 2014–15 bowl games that will conclude the 2014 FBS football season.

The contest will be televised on ESPN with a radio broadcast on ESPN Radio and XM Satellite Radio, with kickoff time to be announced at a later date. The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association is the organizer of the game.

Pre-game activities

Pre-game activities will be held at the Rose Bowl parking lots and at Brookside Golf Course.

Teams

The teams, ranked No. 1 and No. 4, will be officially selected by the selection committee of the College Football Playoff on Selection Sunday on December 7, 2014. Traditionally, the game pits the winners of the Big Ten Conference and Pacific-12 Conference Championship Games; however, every three years starting with this game, this will be played as a National Semi-Final in the new College Football Playoff system.

Game notes

  • October 15, 2013 – More than one team from a conference may participate; rematches will be allowed[3]
  • January 1, 2015 – The Grand Marshal and the Queen and Royal Court of the Tournament of Roses will not participate in this Rose Bowl game since it will be a College Football Playoff game
  • January 1, 2015 – The Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, LA will be the host of the other semi-final game
