In the season 2012 of the Tajik League, will participate 13 teams.Newly promoted are Khosilot, Istaravshan, and Zarafshon,while Shodmon Ghissar withdrew from the competition. There is a limit on the foreign players. Clubs can register up to eight players, while five can be on the field. Only Parvoz Bobojon Ghafurov has the maximum of eight foreign footballers.

As Tajikistan clubs' participation was upgraded from the AFC President's Cup to the AFC Cup starting from 2013 by the AFC,[1] two clubs (league champions and cup winners) will participate in the 2013 AFC Cup.
