The 1973 Kentucky Derby was the 99th running of the Kentucky Derby. It saw Secretariat win the race at a new record of 1:592⁄5, which still stands to this day. Due to high expectations for Secretariat, the crowd swelled to what was then a record of 134,476.[1]
