Żarka nad Nysą [ˈʐarka ˌnad ˈnɨsɔ̃] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Pieńsk, within Zgorzelec County, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in south-western Poland, close to the German border.[1] Prior to 1945 it belonged to Germany and bore the name Sercha ['zɛrça] except for the years 1937 to 1945 AD, when it was called Burgundenau [bur'gundenʔaʊ̯].
It lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) south of Pieńsk, 6 kilometres (4 mi) north of Zgorzelec, and 142 kilometres (88 mi) west of the regional capital Wrocław.
The village has a population of 167.
