Location of Prešov District in the Prešov Region.

Červenica (Hungarian: Vörösvágás) is a village and municipality in Prešov District in the Prešov Region of eastern Slovakia.

History

In historical records the village was first mentioned in 1427. Until the 19th century its mines were the only source of precious opal available to Europeans.

The municipality lies at an altitude of 466 metres and covers an area of 17.8 km². It has a population of about 765 people.
