Čavoglave is a settlement (naselje) in Dalmatia, Croatia. Čavoglave is part of the Ružić municipality of Šibenik-Knin County.
Although very small (according to the 2001 census, it has just 199 inhabitants[1]) , it is widely known by Croats through the 1991 song "Bojna - Čavoglave", by Thompson, a popular patriotic song from the Croatian War of Independence, celebrating the impromptu militia raised in the town to defend against attacks by the Yugoslav People's Army.[2]
Čavoglave is also the birthplace of Marko Perković Thompson, the band's leader, songwriter and vocalist. He built a Church of Croatian Martyrs there at his own expense, to be dedicated to fallen Croatian soldiers and to the civilian victims of the war. For this reason every year he organizes a fund raising concert in honor of Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day, which takes place in Čavoglave. Although the village is not usually a tourist destination, thousands of spectators visit the concert every year.[3]
