Émile Descombes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Émile Descombes (1829 – 1912) was a French pianist and teacher.
Little is known about his life, except that he is variously described as an associate or disciple of Frédéric Chopin, and possibly even one of his last pupils.
He taught at the Paris Conservatoire, where his students included Maurice Ravel,[1] Erik Satie (Descombes called him "the laziest student in the Conservatoire"[2]), Alfred Cortot, Gabriel Jaudoin, Reynaldo Hahn,[3] Édouard Risler[4] and Joseph Morpain.[5]
