Édgar Sosa (born January 15, 1988) is a Dominican basketball player who currently plays for ratiopharm Ulm of the German Bundesliga. He arrived in Italy in 2010 after completing his U.S. college career with the University of Louisville Cardinals.
High school and college career
Sosa played high school basketball at Rice High School in New York City where he received all-American honors. His high school teammates include Curtis Kelly (Kansas State) and Kashif Pratt (Seton Hall). He played under the coaching of Maurice Hicks.
As a freshman along with Derrick Caracter, Earl Clark, and Jerry Smith, the young group struggled early in the 2006–07 season. The team went on to win 8 out of its last 10 games, earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
In the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Texas A&M, Édgar scored 31 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist. He shot 15 for 17 from the line and 7 for 9 from the field. Sosa shot 15 for 15 on free throws to start the game, but missed his final two, as Texas A&M won the game.
On January 4, 2009, Sosa hit a game winning 25 footer over Michael Porter, Kentucky's point guard.
In 2009, Sosa helped lead the Louisville Cardinals to the Elite Eight, where they lost to Michigan St.
Pro career
