Åkerby is a small Swedish village in the area of Småland, neighboring the small community of Lessebo. [1] A famous place in Åkerby is Åkerby Vägskäl, where the first people gathered before emigrating to America in the 19th century. Wilhelm Moberg wrote about this in his book utvandrarna. It was briefly mentioned in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson.
