Álvaro Silva Linares (born 30 March 1984 in Andújar, Jaén) is a Spanish professional footballer who plays for FK Khazar Lankaran in Azerbaijan, as a central defender.

Football career

After one loan, Silva made his professioal debuts with Málaga CF B, appearing in two second division seasons and relegating in the latter. His first contact with the first team came in the 2006–07 campaign, also in the "silver category" (33 games, one goal).

In 2008–09 Silva was loaned by Málaga for a second time, to another Andalusian side, Xerez CD, appearing relatively as it achieved a first-ever La Liga promotion. On 16 July 2009 he returned to Málaga, being immediately released and joining neighbours Cádiz CF (second level) for three years.[1] A starter through most of the season, he suffered relegation this time.

In the 2011 summer, Silva returned to division two and Xerez.[2] After only one league appearance in the first half of the season, however, he moved abroad and penned a six-month contract with Liga I club FC Petrolul Ploiești.[3]

In January 2013, Silva signed a 18-month contract with FK Khazar Lankaran of the Azerbaijan Premier League.[4] He won his second piece of silverware on 23 October of that year, featuring against Neftchi Baku PFC in the Azerbaijan Supercup.[5]
