Živinice is a town and municipality in northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, located south of Tuzla. It is part of the Tuzla Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

History

The origin of the name Živinice is still not established. According to M. Hadžijanić Živinice was mentioned in a Turkish document of 1764 as "Živinice called Uskopči, probably (Oskovci) in nahija Tuzla" [1].
