Šmarčna is a settlement on the right bank of the river Sava in the Sevnica municipality in east central Slovenia. The area is part of the historical region of Lower Carniola. The municipality is now included in the Lower Sava statistical region.[2]

The local church is dedicated to Mary Help of Christians (Slovene: Marija Pomočnica) and belongs to the Boštanj parish. It was built in 1970 on the site of an older chapel that was incorporated into the new building.[3]
