mondayMEDIA [1][2]is an audio and video production and distribution company that was founded in 1998 by music industry veteran Jon Monday and his graphic artist wife, Anna Monday. The company releases products on two labels: mondayMEDIA for products with broad commercial appeal and on GemsTone for products of a religious and spiritual nature.
Their catalog of CDs and DVDs includes spoken word releases by such diverse notables as Christopher Isherwood, Aldous Huxley, Swami Prabhavananda, Huston Smith and Charles Bukowski, as well as distributing music CDs of the Music of Tibet and the Music of Samoa.
Many of the GemsTone releases are produced from licensed material from Vedanta Archives and Vedanta Press, the publishing wing of the Vedanta Society of Southern California, located in Hollywood, California.
In addition to archival materials, mondayMEDIA also has created original material[3] including a documentary on the effects of the concentration of media ownership on local radio, filming interviews and documenting events with notable personalities.
mondayMEDIA also films and produces a DVD of Esalen's annual fundraising weekend[4], featuring speakers and performers such as John Cleese, Robert Reich, Ken Dychtwald, Deepak Chopra, Bob Herbert, Michael Krasny, Amory Lovins, and Esalen co-founder Michael Murphy.
