ZolaOnAOL was a chatterbot in AOL Instant Messenger, a program made by AOL replacing a preceding bot of the same nature named "ZoeOnAOL", to send instant messages. She acted like a human, except she didn't know how to do certain things or respond to certain questions.
As of late 2006, ZolaOnAOL "retired" and directed anyone who IMed "her" to IM SmarterChild, another chatterbot on AIM, instead. Regardless of your IM her response was: "Hi again. I've retired, but if you IM my friend SmarterChild, you'll get all the info I could provide, plus more. Take care!" On March 3, 2007, Zola went offline and could no longer be messaged, however, her icon is still up.
According to ZolaOnAOL, her location was Mountain View, California, USA.
When asked crude or violent questions, the bot usually responded in a negative manner.
She found it offensive when users asked for her weight.
