Zhao Peng (simplified Chinese: 赵鹏; traditional Chinese: 趙鵬; pinyin: Zhào Péng; born June 20, 1983) is a Chinese international football player who currently plays for Henan Jianye in the Chinese Super League where he plays as a centre-back or full back.

Club career

Zhao Peng rose to prominence when he was part of the team that helped Henan Jianye win promotion to the Chinese Super League after winning the second tier.[1] The following season saw Zhao Peng play an integral part in the Henan team that saw them fight against relegation throughout much of the season, eventually aiding them in a top 12 finish.[2] The following season would see Zhao Peng help establish Henan within the league. At the beginning of the 2009 league season Zhao Peng would display some impressive performances for Henan that caught the attention of Gao Hongbo and a call for the national team.[3]

International career

Zhao Peng made his debut for the Chinese national team in a friendly against Germany in a 1-1 draw on May 29, 2009 playing as a right-back.[4] He would play in several further friendlies and even score his first goal in one of them against Botswana on September 30, 2009 in a 4-1 win.[5]
