Zeo, Inc., formerly Axon Labs[1], is a private company founded by Brown University students. Established in December 2003 and headquartered in Boston, MA, it has created an alarm clock that monitors sleep states (e.g., REM) and attempts to wake people up in the best stage of sleep.[2] The state of sleep is detected by a headband. A bedside base unit awakens the sleeper during the last light sleep phase before the desired waking time[3]. The company has also developed and marketed a personal sleep coaching service which allows users to measure and analyze their sleep patterns.[4]
The founders and Board Members include, Ben Rubin, Eric Shashoua, Jason Donahue, Terri Alpert from Stony Creek Brands, David Barone from Sleep Labs, Inc. and Jeff Stibel from Web.com.[5] Similar products include the aXbo alarm clock, the Sleeptracker wristwatch and The WakeMate.
