ZNTK Nowy Sącz is the former name of Newag S.A. (as of 2009) in Nowy Sącz, Poland. It is manufacturing electric multiple unit trains (e.g. class 20WE, photo) and trams.
The company modified the PKP class SM30 series of railway locomotives into the PKP class SP30 used by Polish State Railways (Polskie Koleje Państwowe).
ZNTK is a popular acronym, used by many different plants in different cities across Poland, that stands for Rolling Stock Repair Plants (Zakłady Naprawcze Taboru Kolejowego[1]). Some of them have now evolved into big, independent manufacturers (Newag, Pesa Bydgoszcz, ZNTK Poznań) or subsidiaries of international companies, e.g. Stadler Rail Siedlce).
ZNTK Nowy Sącz (Newag, since rebranding in 2005) is sometimes confused with ZNTK Poznań engineering conglomerate with based in Poznań, that builds railway locomotives and rolling stock, most known for their SUW 2000 variable gauge axle, Automatic Track Gauge Changeover System installed in some break of gauge bordering Poland and CIS countries.
