Yemmiganur or Emmiganur is a city, mandal headquarters and a municipality in Kurnool district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

As of 2009[update] India census,[1] Yemmiganur had a population of 2,05,143. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Yemmiganur has an average literacy rate of 50%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 61%, and female literacy is 39%. In Yemmiganur, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Yemmiganur is famous for its weavers. A residential colony is exclusively reserved for them. The land for the colony was arranged by Padmashri Machani Somappa. Neelakanteshwara Swamy Rathothsava is a big car festival of Yemmiganur which is celebrated in every January.
Sri.Chennakesava Reddy of Congress(I) Party is the current Member of Legislative Assembly from Yemmiganur constituency.
Now Yemmiganur is a well-developed town with an Engineering college SJCET (St John's College of Engineering and Technology)
There is also a Darga of the Famous Islamic Sufi Saint Khawaja Syed Shah Fareed Baba Suhrawardhi Kadha sallahu sirahul Aziz located at the outskirts of Yemmiganur 5 km away from the town towards Kurnool.He is from a great Sufi family of Baba Fakrudeen(RA) located in Penukonda, His Father Khawaja Sysed Shah Baba Abdal Suhrawardhi's Darga is located in Madanapalle. Fareed Baba Sahib greatly loved the poor people and people of all religion and creed. He foretold his departure from this world and He particularly want to stay in Yemminganur since he loved the people of this town very much.
The commercial holiday is on Saturday and the market will be held on Sunday this is called as "Santha". There are separate markets for sale of cattle, goats etc.
Yemmiganue is mother place of uggani bajji (A mouth watering recipe made of Puffed Rice). In this city famous vaggani centre is vaggani centre near park road.
Yemmiganur was part of Vijayanagar from the fourteenth century to the sixteenth century. From 1953 to 1956 it was in Andhra state, now in Andhra Pradesh.In the year 1965 the Panchayat of Yemiganur is upgrade as Muniipality. Now it is a Grade -I Municipality.
