Yangzhen Town (simplified Chinese: 杨镇; traditional Chinese: 楊鎮; pinyin: Yáng Zhèn) is town situated in the Shunyi District of Beijing. The population is estimated at 22,000 residents[1], however during school holidays period, the population swells with the arrival of over 7,000 students and teachers [2].

Yangzhen has a delightful selection of local restaurants serving authentically cooked Beijing cuisine. Additional facilities include a China Mobile shop, a shop selling seeds and nuts and a supermarket.
Yangzhen is well connected with regular buses to downtown Beijing. The journey takes approximately 1 hour depending on traffic and stops at Dongzhimen (东直门) long distance bus terminal. Unlicensed minibuses run between Yangzhen and the central Shunyi urban area, which takes approximately 20 minutes. Unlicensed taxis also drive between Yangzhen and the center of Shunyi at a cost of about 30 RMB.
One of the highest rated middle schools in Shunyi District, Yangzhen Number 1 Middle School, has a long history of great academic and sporting success. The school's campus is full of trees and green life, giving it the title of "School Garden" [3]. Its English department has had foreign teachers for 7 consecutive years, providing an excellent opportunity for its students to obtain fluency in English before they graduate. The school's basketball team regularly makes the top 5 within the Beijing municipality, and the school is widely regarded as an excellent environment to develop young sporting talents. One of the key characteristics of the school is the large number of Xinjiang (新疆)students that go to study there.
