This network monitoring software has its roots in another piece of network monitoring software called BIG BROTHER SYSTEM AND NETWORK MONITOR (BB). Between 2002 and 2004, an open source add-on called bbgen toolkit was created by Henrik Storner, then in March 2005 a stand-alone version was released called Hobbit. Versions of this were released between 2005 and 2008, but being already a trademark, the tool has finally been christened Xymon since.[3]
It offers a graphical monitoring, listing the various services of each machine, and to set up the items of mail after a certain time of degradation. For example after 30 minutes of disk space above 90% utilization.
We can then see statistics for all these services graphically.
Each machine needs to be monitored Xymon customer service: it is available for download Unix and Windows.
Finally, add-ons to the server are also available on Deadcat.
