Ingenic Semiconductor
Ingenic Semiconductor is a Chinese semiconductor company founded 2005 and based in Beijing.
XBurst Embedded CPUs
The XBurst CPU architecture is compatible with MIPSII and has a 8-staged pipeline. XBurst CPU technology consists of 2 parts:
- A RISC/SIMD/DSP hybrid instruction set architecture which enables the processor to have the capability of computation, signal processing and video processing.
- An innovative pipeline engine which consumes very little power while emitting instructions. The processor core (including L1 cache) consumes 100mw at 1000MHz at a 65nm LP process.
XBurst Products[1]
- JZ4720 (240 MHz, 150 mW) [2]
- JZ4725B (360 MHz, 200 mW) [3]
- JZ4730 (336 MHz, 200 mW) [4]
- JZ4740 (360 MHz, 200 mW) adds RMVB, MPEG-1/2/4 decoding capability up to D-1 resolution thanks to SIMD instruction set[5]
- JZ4750 (360 MHz, 200 mW) adds TV encoder [6]
- JZ4755 (400 MHz), second core is for video processing only [7]
- JZ4760 (600 MHz), second core is for video processing only, IEEE754 FPU (July28, 2011) [8]
- JZ4770 (1 GHz, ~250mW), includes 1080p video decoding unit for H.264, VC-1 and VP8, 2D+3D Graphics core (licensed from Vivante[9]) supporting OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenVG 1.1 [10]
The JZ4730 CPU is used in the Skytone Alpha-400 and its variants.[11] The Jz4720 is utilized in the Copyleft Hardware project Ben NanoNote.[12] Another popular device, the Dingoo gaming handheld, uses the JZ4732, a de facto JZ4740. The SoCs are also commonly used in Portable media players, digital photo frames and GPS devices.
