History

Wredling Middle School is named after Mr. John H. Wredling, who was Superintendent of Schools in Community Unit School District 303 from 1968 to 1972. The main campus was built in 1995 at 255 Red Gate Road with a capacity of 1300 students. In 2001, Wredling Middle School moved to 1200 Dunham Road, where it is located today. The original campus on Red Gate was converted and expanded into the St. Charles North High School. An extension was added to the back side of the building due to the large increase of population and racist acts.

The elementary schools that feed into Wredling Middle School are Davis,Anderson, Fox Ridge, Munhall, Lincoln, and Norton Creek. Also included is a small amount of minorities of students from Davis and Richmond.

When the St. Charles East High School campus was shut down for the 2001–2002 school year due to health concerns (mold), the East students took classes on the adjacent Wredling Middle School campus and mobile classrooms were brought in to accommodate the larger student body. Meanwhile, the Wredling students were relocated to a mobile classroom campus situated between the Thompson and Haines Middle School campuses across town. All classes resumed at their normal locations the following school year.

The student to faculty ratio at Wredling is 50 to 1. Wredling has made Adequate Yearly Progress on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test, a state test which is mandatory under the No Child Left Behind Act.[1]

Wredling Middle School students won nine awards in the 2005 creative writing contest sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Tri-Cities branch.
