Harvard World Model United Nations
The World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) is an annual traveling Model United Nations conference for college students run by Harvard undergraduates and a team from a local university from the host city. Dubbed the "Olympics of Model UN", WorldMUN moves to a new international city each year and attracts 2,000 college and graduate students from more than 60 countries, making it the largest traveling collegiate-level Model UN conference in the world.[1]
Over the past two decades, WorldMUN has traveled to 19 cities in five continents, including The Hague in the Netherlands; Puebla, Mexico; Geneva, Switzerland; Beijing, China; Edinburgh, United Kingdom; Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt; Heidelberg, Germany; and Belo Horizonte, Brazil. WorldMUN 2011 was held between March 14-18, 2011 in Singapore.[2] The conference lasts one week in March and combines committee sessions during the day with nightly social events. WorldMUN was founded in 1991 and is the only traveling Model UN conference in existence.[3]
For 2012, Vancouver, Canada has won the bid to host the 21st Harvard WorldMUN. The conference will be held from March 11-15, 2012.[4]
