Withania is a genus of flowering plants in the nightshade family, Solanaceae.

Etymology

Withania Pauquy, Diss. Bellad. 14 (1825) (nom. cons.); Supposed to be in honour of Henry Witham, a British geologist and writer on fossil botany in the nineteenth century.[2]
