The Windsor railway station is the western terminus of Via Rail's Quebec City-Windsor Corridor and literally at the end of the line it buffers onto the Detroit River. Located in the Walkerville area of the city in the midst of the Hiram Walker Distillery, the station is served by 8 Via trains daily originating in Toronto. .
On November 8, 2010, Via Rail unveiled the design for a new station building to replace the existing building from the early 1960s. The new building is estimated to cost $6.3 million CDN and would be wheelchair accessible, and have space to accommodate expanded track lines. Construction is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2011.[1]
