William "Bill" Ramsey is an English former professional rugby league footballer of the 1960s and '70s who at representative level has played for Great Britain, Yorkshire, and Commonwealth XIII, and at club level for Hunslet, Leeds, Bradford Northern, and Hull, playing at Prop, Second-row, Loose forward/Lock, i.e. number 8 or 10, 11 or 12, or 13, during the era of contested scrums.

International honours

Bill Ramsey represented Commonwealth XIII in 1965 against New Zealand at Crystal Palace National Recreation Centre, London on Wednesday 18 August 1965,[1] and won caps for Great Britain while at Hunslet in 1965 against New Zealand (2 matches); in 1966 against France, Australia (2 matches), and New Zealand (2 matches); and while at Leeds in 1974 against New Zealand.[2]

Career at Leeds

Bill Ramsey was transferred to Leeds from Hunslet in 1967 for £10,000, (based on increases in average earnings, this would be approximately £272,000 in 2009).[3]

During his Leeds career Bill Ramsey appeared in 17 major Finals, including five at Wembley, scored a rare drop goal in the 1969 Championship Final, toured twice in 1966 and 1974, and won seven winners medals with Leeds.
