Wiler bei Utzenstorf is a municipality in the administrative district of Emmental in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.
Wiler bei Utzenstorf has an area, as of 2009[update], of 3.82 km2 (1.47 sq mi). Of this area, 2.02 km2 (0.78 sq mi) or 52.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while 1.16 km2 (0.45 sq mi) or 30.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.58 km2 (0.22 sq mi) or 15.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.04 km2 (9.9 acres) or 1.0% is either rivers or lakes.[3]
Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 2.9% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 6.3% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.8%. 29.6% of the total land area is heavily forested. Of the agricultural land, 40.6% is used for growing crops and 9.4% is pastures, while 2.9% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.[3]
Wiler bei Utzenstorf has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 812.[1] As of 2007[update], 3.4% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -4.6%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (96.5%), with Italian being second most common ( 1.3%) and French being third ( 1.0%).
In the 2007 election the most popular party was the SVP which received 40.3% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SPS (26.4%), the Green Party (10.8%) and the FDP (9%).
The age distribution of the population (as of 2000[update]) is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 23.8% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 58.4% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 17.8%.
