Whampoa Single Member Constituency
Whampoa Single Member Constituency (Simplified Chinese: 黄埔单选区;Traditional Chinese: 黃埔單選區) is a Single Member Constituency located in the eastern region of Singapore. The ward covers the main area of Whampoa. This ward has been carved out from the now defunct Jalan Besar Group Representation Constituency during the 2011 General Election.
Whampoa SMC used to exist in 1968 until 1988 where this constituency was dissolved and divide into nearby the now defunct Kampong Glam GRC, Jalan Besar GRC and possibly Toa Payoh GRC in 1991.
However, Whampoa ward was again recreated in 1997 only to be under the defunct Jalan Besar GRC and Heng Chee How had subsequently be the incumbent of that ward since 2001 under Jalan Besar GRC.
