Whakatane High School is a secondary school located in the town of Whakatane, New Zealand. It serves the town and surrounding areas alongside Trident High School. It has a current student roll of nearly 800.

The school consists of a field, gym (a gymnastics building operated by the local Gymnastics Club lyes next to it), school & student office, the Barclay Hall, a library (named in November 2011 after New Zealand author Margaret Mahy, who went to Whakatane High School), and numerous buildings split into blocks including: N block (Mainly used for Math, and ICT), T Block (Mainly used for Technology), B Block (Mainly for English, Social Studies and related subjects), A block (Multiple subjects including Languages and Health), and C Block (Mainly for art and related subjects).
The school currently has a roll of 773 students. Of this, 52% are female, and 48% male. Also, 55% are Maori, 41% are NZ European, and 3% are of other origin (eg. Asian, Pacific).
There are four houses in which the students are split into:
Along with international students (6 at March 2011), the school get occasional 1-2 week visits from classes from another country (mainly Japan). The students are billeted with a student from Whakatane High. The visitors attend some of the classes of the student they were billeted with.
