West Lebanon Township is a township in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Lebanon, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 836 at the 2000 census.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.1 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000,[1] there were 836 people, 333 households, and 234 families residing in the township. The population density was 2,079.5 people per square mile (807.0/km²). There were 346 housing units at an average density of 860.7/sq mi (334.0/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 96.65% White, 1.20% African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.48% Asian, 0.60% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.63% of the population.

There were 333 households out of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 29.7% were non-families. 25.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.01.

In the township the population was spread out with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 104.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $37,143, and the median income for a family was $41,250. Males had a median income of $31,591 versus $23,594 for females. The per capita income for the township was $18,709. About 8.4% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 15.5% of those under age 18 and 7.6% of those age 65 or over.
