WeeWorld allows World Users to communicate with friends in the virtual world part of the website in many different sections, including a WeeWorld High School. There is also a mall, where WeeMees can visit various stores to buy specialized virtual goods from the NBA and Rocawear stores. Users can download or purchase virtual goods for their WeeMees, ranging from clothing and accessories to food and drink items. Most people on weeworld buy gold points it is optional but tempting. the fame game is a game that they play you vote or enter and try to win. Many of the virtual goods reflect current pop culture and celebrity fashion trends, in keeping with WeeWorld’s target teen demographic. Some clothing items, for example, are modeled after styles popularized by WeeWorld featured celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift. But be careful, there are things called weebots. They monitor how people behave to other people. You can tell that it's a weebot if it's a regular name, like charles and frank, it doesn't have clothes on, it is on level one doesn't have a room, does not have any friends and the eyes disappear when you leave them a message, and was made in 2001,2002, or 2003. To find this out you can find it in the achievements.[6]

Promotions

WeeWorld has partnered with corporations such as AOL, MSN and Skype.[7] Through a partnership with RCA, it has promoted artists such as Alicia Keys and Avril Lavigne through virtual merchandise sales and WeeMees of the respective artists.[8] WeeWorld has also promoted artists such as the Jonas Brothers, Justin Timberlake, Raven-Symoné [9] Daniel Friedberg III and the Pussycat Dolls [10] and most recently, worked with Taylor Swift.

WeeMees

Description

WeeMees are the animated avatars that WeeWorld users design when first joining the community. WeeMees are cartoonish in nature. You can buy clothes within weeworld or reuse clothes in your closet. If you have an AIM account you can make your weemee the background of it. Your weemee can also send gifts. Everything that your weemee does, they receive green points(money),or you can get gold points(big money).

Ambassadors

In the early spring of 2010, WeeWorld launched their new "Ambassador" Program. The initial point of "Ambassadors" was to help WeeWorld keep the customers content. "Ambassadors" are to help enforce the Rules & Regulations of WeeWorld as well as assist anyone that needed help with small problems. (Ex: how to post a blog, upload a playlist etc). Ambassadors were originally chosen via submitted applications. Then in the summer of 2011, WeeWorld changed their recruiting strategy and now chooses diligent, helpful, and kind members of WeeWorld to become Ambassadors. The easiest way to tell if a WeeMee is an Ambassador is to see if there is a globe background behind them. The globe is a badge given to them by WeeWorld.

Lawsuits

In 2007, WeeWorld and Nintendo were involved in a law suit after Nintendo Wii's use of WeeMiis. WeeMee is a WeeWorld trademark.

History

The avatars were created in 2002 by the then CEO and Founder of Saw-You.com,[11] Mike Kinsella,[12] in Glasgow, Scotland,[13][14] Saw-You.com was founded in 1999.[15] In 2003 Microsoft began offering the avatars for use to their Hotmail customers.[13] The new service attracted 150,000 users during the first day of the avatars being launched, with the WeeMee website attracting 1.5 million hits daily.[13] In 2004 the UK's largest social network, Friendsreunited.com, also introduced the WeeMee to their user base.[16] In December 2008 the virtual technology firm DA agreed to develop a 3-D version of the avatar.[17]

Playlists were deleted from the site as playlist.com started charging for its services as WeeWorld didn't want it's users to be forced to pay for this service.
