Waverley is a boys and girls school for pupils age 11 - 19.[1]
It is situated just south of Bordesley Green's Heartlands Hospital, between Hob Moor Road and Kingscliff Road.
Waverley school has 835 pupils on roll at this time. This is gradually increasing as the school becomes more and more popular thanks to its Outstanding performance and its improvements. It is a mixed-gender 11-16 community, secondary school. Students are attaining 5+ A*-C grades in 2009 well above average and beyond National Challenge targets. This is a vast improvement from how it used to be before.
The co-educational Waverley Grammar School was situated between Byron Road and Waverley Road, now next to the A45 - Muntz St (B4145) roundabout, and next to Small Heath Park. This school is now Small Heath School, Birmingham.
In 2006, Waverley was recognized as one of the most improved schools at GCSE level in England.
Recently, on 28–29 April 2010 Waverley School was inspected my Her Majesty's inspectors and four additional inspectors. They observed 34 lessons and 38 teachers, four form periods and an assembly. After they had gathered up their notes and came to a decision, Waverley School was officially labelled as an Outstanding school. It is one of the 8 secondary schools in the UK to be labelled as Outstanding by Ofsted.
