Princely State

Warcha was formerly a Princely State in British India, ruled by Nawab of Phulial family (A clan or subcaste of Awan tribe). Its territory ranges from the Soon Valley to the present day city of Khushab. Nawab Surkhuru Khan was the last Nawab of the state and cousin of Nawab of Kalabagh. He held the title of "Chief of Warcha". The Phulial family was the richest in the region, as they owned the famous Salt mines of Warcha. The State of Warcha was dissolved in 1865 after an invasion of Tiwana Rajputs, who burnt all the Palaces of Nawab Surkhuru Khan and other houses of the family.
