Walchand College of Engineering (Marathi: वालचंद अभियांत्रिकी महाविद्यालय) is an autonomous Engineering education institute in the city of Sangli, Maharashtra, India. The WCE campus is located on nearly 102 acres (415,000 m²) of land situated in Vishrambag, roughly midway between the twin cities of Sangli and Miraj.
The college was established in 1947 by Hon. Late Dhondumama Sathe beginning with an undergraduate course in Civil Engineering with an intake capacity of 60. Previously it was affiliated with Shivaji University, Kolhapur, but it is now an autonomous college offering B.Tech. degree. The college is named after Walchand Hirachand, an industrialist.

In 1947, the college began with a Civil Engineering department offering an undergraduate degree (B.E. Civil) with an intake capacity of 60. Subsequently, undergraduate courses in Electrical and Mechanical engineering - B.E.(Elec) and B.E.(Mech) - with an intake capacity of 60 each were introduced, in 1950 and 1951 respectively.
Postgraduate courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and a diploma course in Industrial Electronics were introduced in 1971. In 1986, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Electronics Engineering and an undergraduate course in Computer Science and Engineering were introduced, and a postgraduate course in Computer Science and Engineering was introduced in 1997.
In 2001, the college added a Bachelor of Engineering course in Information Technology with an intake of 60 students, and an additional intake of 30 students for the Computer Science and Engineering course. Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Geology have been established.
The placement record of the college shows 340 students placed in organisations during 2005-06.

The campus of the college spreads over a vast area of about 102 acres. The campus has different buildings for different departments. The central quadrangle (as it is called) has the classrooms, large enough to seat 60-70 students; few classrooms to even occupy around 100 students. At the center of the quadrangle is an Assembly Hall, called Tilak Hall & a open-air theater. The newly constructed library building also has a reading room.
The college has an excellent hostel facility for boys since 1958 and for girls since 1987. There are 8 hostel blocks (D1 to D8) with a capacity to accommodate 738 students. In response to the recent trend of increasing number of girl students, two hostel blocks were suitably modified and converted into girls hostels. A total of 130 girl students are presently availing the facility of hostel accommodation. We intend to augment this by another 46 by the beginning of the next academic year.
On the initiative of the Chairman Shri Ajit Gulabchand, a hostel block with the capacity of 46 students was converted into a cyber hostel with internet connectivity. Students in the cyber hostel can bring their own computers for personal use. WCE is perhaps the first college in Maharashtra to create such facility for students. Cyber hostel has proved to be a useful and popular idea. We intend to extend internet connectivity to other hostels in a phased manner.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department intakes the highest number of undergraduate students. The UG and PG courses were introduced in 1986 and 1997 respectively. In 2001, an additional intake of 30 students was sanctioned for Under Graduate course, resulting in total intake of 90 students. This department also runs the Central Computing Facility (CCF) along with the Information Technology department which allows access to students of all departments.
The Mechanical department of the college has various facilities available for students. Workshops includes lathe machines, woodturning machines, milling machines, shapers and also a CNC machine. The department also hosts few huge size boilers; some dated even to 1930s. Though now not in working condition, students can thereby climb in the Babcock & Wilcox boiler for study purpose & know the interior construction. Separate workshops for blacksmithy and carpentry allow students to have practicals. The blacksmithy workshop also has a furnace in working condition.
For aerodynamic study purpose, a wind tunnel is available in laboratory. Main entrance grounds also has a demo wind mill.
Together with the Electronics department, a separate Mechatronics laboratory is under development along with the Cryogenics laboratory. A new demo Steam Turbine powerplant is also newly setup.
Undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of technology (B. Tech)
Postgraduate Degrees: Master of Technology (M.Tech)
