Waitangi

Waitangi (Māori for Noisy or Weeping Waters) is the name of various places, towns, and settlements in New Zealand. The two most notable of these are:

• Waitangi, Northland
• Waitangi, Chatham Islands

Waitaki, the name of the river marking the boundary between Canterbury and Otago, is a southern form of this name.

Waitangi may also refer to:

• The Treaty of Waitangi, one of New Zealand's founding documents, named for the settlement in Northland where it was signed.
• Waitangi Day, a public holiday in New Zealand on February 6th each year to commemorate signing the treaty.
